Bar Exam Information

This guide will acquaint you with resources to help law students be successful on the Bar Exam.  The Tennessee Board of Law Examiners governs the examination and admission of attorneys who wish to practice law in Tennessee. The exam is given twice a year (February and July).  It is a 2 day exam consisting of the Multistate Bar Examination (multiple choice), the Multistate Performance Test and 9 essay questions.

The Tennessee Board of Law Examiners website has information on how to apply, requirements, exam schedule, current exam sites, successful list and laptop testing.  The University of Memphis Law Library has past Tennessee Bar Examination questions available.

The National Conference of Bar Examiners has information on the multistate tests, character and fitness, and bar admission services.
